This week is Brain Awareness Week!

Love your Brain is an awareness campaign led by the Neurological Alliance of Ireland to coincide with National Brain Awareness Week March 11th to 17th 2019. The campaign aims to promote greater awareness and understanding of the brain and brain conditions as well as the need for more investment in services, research and prevention. Love your Brain is supported by over 20 patient organisations and research groups which will be involved in organising events for Brain Awareness Week throughout the country.

There are 4 parts to the Campaign:

  1. Understand your Brain: Promoting greater understanding and knowledge about our brains and how they work

  2. Keeping Your Brain Healthy: Raising awareness of brain health and how you can protect and strengthen your brain

  3. Living with a Neurological Condition: Calling for more investment in services for the 800,000 Irish people living with neurological conditions

  4. Promoting Brain Research: Highlighting the need to support research into the brain and brain conditions

We are delighted to announce the release of our new charity single, a rendition of Bob Marley’s hit song, One Love.

Our mission is to raise as much money as we can for Remember Us Charity, a social group for people with Down Syndrome whose work has been so moving. They have made such a difference in their members and their families lives and we are delighted to have the opportunity to finally give back to such an inspiring charity.

Thank you to our Musical Director, Bryan Mullen, our carers - Susan Behan, Louise Farrell, Lauren Dunne, Priscilla Yerxa, Lisa Witter and Jeremiah Molounso. We could not have achieved this single without the help from the following vocalists too, Emily Carroll, Brian Gilligan, Filip Klubica, Amy Penston, Stephen Perry & Suzanne Savage. Our song would not have been complete without Darren Bell, Cote Calmet, Jake Curran, Andrew Csibi & Bryan Mullen on instruments.

A special thank you to The Marley Family, Primary Wave / Blue Mountain Music and Windmill Lane Recording Studios ( Niall McMonagle & Phil Cullen).

Our CD’s are now on sale for €5 each, if you would like to purchase any, please pop Monica an email at monica.oneill@kareplan.ie or pick up your copy in our office in Edenmore.

Remember Us Charity

We are proud to announce that our nominated charity this year is Remember Us in Dublin, Ireland.  Remember Us are a social group for people with Special Needs who provide a safe integrated social outlet for people with special needs in the Fingal area, developing social and life skills and forming friendships, combating isolation and above all having fun.  They are a charity very close to us and we are delighted to be supporting them this year.

6 of our fantastic carers are joining together to sing  and record Bob Marley's One Love.   We will be releasing this as a cd and mp3 and all proceeds will be going to Remember Us.  We are delighted to also be invited to perform for the children of Remember Us in October for their fashion show! An exciting few weeks ahead for all of us, please keep your eyes peeled!
